How we collect, use, and protect your data.

Last Updated: April 1, 2026

SpotOn Technologies LLC ("SpotOn," "we," "us," or "our") operates the SpotOn Parking mobile application (the "App") and the website at spotonparking.net (the "Website"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices regarding your data.

By using the App or Website, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

1. Information We Collect

a) Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

  • Name — Your full name, provided during sign-up or from your Google account.
  • Email address — Used for authentication, account recovery, and notifications.
  • Profile photo — Optional. You may upload a photo or use your Google profile picture.
  • User type — Your role on campus (e.g., commuter student, faculty, staff).

If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email, and profile photo from Google's authentication service. We do not receive or store your Google password.

b) Vehicle Information

We collect your vehicle's make and color to help identify your car within the app. We do not collect license plate numbers.

c) Location Data

With your permission, we collect precise location data (GPS coordinates) to:

  • Show your position on the map relative to parking lots.
  • Calculate distances to nearby lots and provide directions.
  • Record where you parked when you start a parking session.
  • Optionally detect when you may have parked (auto-park beta feature, iOS only).

Foreground location is used while you actively use the App. Background location is only used if you opt into the auto-park beta feature and can be disabled at any time in your device settings.

d) Usage & Interaction Data

We collect information about how you interact with the App, including:

  • Parking sessions — Which lot you parked in, the time you parked, and when you left.
  • Lot feedback — Occupancy reports you submit for parking lots.
  • Rewards activity — Points earned, streaks, and reward redemptions.
  • Notification delivery — Whether push notifications were successfully delivered.
  • Search queries — Searches for lots, buildings, or addresses. Recent searches are stored locally on your device and are not synced to our servers.

e) AI Assistant Data

If you use the AI parking assistant, we collect the text of your questions and conversation history to provide contextual responses. Conversations are stored locally on your device and sent to our backend for processing.

f) Device & Diagnostic Data

We automatically collect:

  • Device identifiers — A unique device ID and push notification token for delivering notifications.
  • App version and platform — (iOS or Android) for compatibility and support.
  • Crash logs and performance data — To diagnose bugs and improve app stability.

g) Organization Membership

If you link your account to a campus organization, we collect your organization email address and role (student, faculty, or staff) to verify your membership and grant access to organization-specific parking lots.

h) Schedule Data

You may optionally enter your class schedule to receive personalized parking recommendations. Schedule entries include class name, day, and time.

i) Notification Preferences

We store your notification preferences (which alerts you want, quiet hours, timezone) so we can respect your communication choices.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:
